The Boudin Barndance - 2/28/2002

A busy night on the Boudin Barndance this evening. The major focus of the show, the last hour to be exact, was a celebration of 70 years on the planet for Johnny Cash. Spent the final hour playing tracks from the recent 2-CD "Essential Johnny Cash" collection as well as selected tracks from five upcoming album reissues from Columbia. These include "The Fabulous Johnny Cash" from 1959, "Hymns By Johnny Cash" also from 1959, "Ride This Train" from 1960, "Orange Blossom Special" from 1965, and "Carryin' On With Johnny Cash & June Carter" from 1967.

Previewed the Tim O'Brien/Darrell Scott show happening at the Narrows Center For the Arts in Fall River, MA tomorrow night. A bunch of releases getting 1st-time spins on the Barndance this evening such as the live collection from Hot Rize, Star Room Boys and the debut/swan song from the late Champ Hood called "Bon Haven." Buttshaker of the night????? A no brainer, "Talk About A Party" from Boogaloo & His Gallant Crew. Now onto the goods....
