The Boudin Barndance - 04/10/2003
A smooth sailing night on the Barndance this evening where we bounced all over
the joint. Previewed music from Deke Dickerson who along with his Ecco-Fonics
perform at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA next Wednesday
night. Did a birthday set in honor of local hero Jack Smith (of Rockabilly
Planet fame). Lots of first-timers from the spins perspective, too, with
releases from the Last Hombres, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Elizabeth Ross, Roscoe
Holcomb (a most welcome reissue!), Lucinda Williams, Supersuckers, Willie Nelson
(the Essential on Legacy), and one of the three upcoming Uncle Tupelo reissues
all making Barn waves for the first time. Buttshaker of the night???? Sonny
Burgess kicking some big time butt with "Ain't Gonna Do It". Now onto
