Boudin Barndance Thursday 6:00-9:00pm with Dan Ferguson (boudindan@cox.net) The Boudin Barndance - 5/8/2003 matters. A busy night, as usual. Sent out birthday salutes to the living and dead including Lorrie Collins, Hank Snow, Ricky Nelson, and Riley Puckett - now that would make a heckuva gathering! Did up a belated Cinco de Mayo celebration with releases of "border" music from Arhoolie the cornerstone of the salute. Also featured music from local heroes the Blackstone Valley Sinners who play the Met Cafe in Providence on Saturday night. The band features Rich Gilbert (way back when with Human Sexual Response and now one of Frank Black's Catholics and Slim Cessna of Slim Cessna's Auto Club fame) and their debut album called It's A Sin is an oddly alluring brew of old country. A buttload of new things making the Barndance cut for the first time including Howe Gelb, Los Pacaminos, Caitlin Cary, Gemma Hayes, Amelia, Eleni Mandell, the Fleshtones, and a most welcome new one from Norton featuring airchecks from the crazed genius of legendary dj The Mad Daddy. Buttshaker of the night???? A no-brainer going to the Fleshtones with the title track from their new one called "Do You Swing?". Now onto the goods.....
