Boudin Barndance Thursday 6:00-9:00pm with Dan Ferguson (boudindan@cox.net) The Boudin Barndance - 5/15/2003 is president of the Rhode Island Steel Guitar Association (www.risga.com). The occasion was to promote their annual pedal steel jamboree coming up on Sunday afternoon. They'll welcome around 15 players strutting their pedal steel stuff throughout the afternoon. The locale is the Elk's Club in Smithfield, R.I. The club is located on Route 104 (Farnum Pike). The show goes from 1 - 6 pm. There is a bar and the kitchen will be open. I have to say that I witnessed their last one and it was a trip, especially the grand finale when they had about a dozen guys jamming on pedal steel to close things out. Lots more Barndance 1st-timers making it into the mix this night which was heavy on the vinyl. Among the newcomers was one of 4 new 7-inchers from the Norton Records Benny Joy Jukebox Series, a new compilation of Stax Instrumentals, a reissue of June Carter Cash's '99 release, Townes Van Zandt, and Fred Eaglesmith & the Noodlers.
