The Boudin Barndance - 5/16/2002

A little behind the 8-ball getting last week's playlist out. Will confess that
part of it had to do with heading down to the Philly neck of the woods which was
perfect timing considering Jesse Dayton and the Supersuckers were doing the
tag-team thing at the Trocadero. Heckuva show if they happen to be coming your
way. As far as the Barndance was concerned, a mixed bag show. Did a feature on
the new one from Mike Ireland & Holler which is a thing of beauty if ya ask me.
Other Barndance 1st-timers included releases from Amy Rigby (the anthology "18
Again"), Uncle Tupelo (89/93), Fred Eaglesmith, Tift Merritt, Joe West & the
Sinners, a reissue of Big Sandy's 2nd album when the band was known as the
Fly-Rite Trio featuring T.K. Smith on guitar, bluesman Jimmy Dawkins, volume 7
in the Swamp Gold Series from Jin Records, and the aforementioned Mike Ireland &
Holler release. Buttshaker of the week????? Steve Shuma with a kickin' little
tune titled "Thunder Lightnin'".

Would also like to mention that we have another in a series of house concerts
coming up on Sunday, May 26 with Slewfoot recording artist Florence Dore.
Florence will be accompanied by Drew Glackin of Silos fame. The show happens in
South Kingstown, R.I. and music begins at 3 pm. BYOB and pot luck on the food
