The Boudin Barndance - 7/4/2002

The 4th of July version of the Boudin Barndance was a blast of a show to do on
this record-breaking evening for heat. Thank the heavens the WRIU studio was
kicking out some real swell cool air. A night of American music was the menu
with the recent collection spotlighting the Blasters called "Testament" a focus
throughout the evening. Few bands, IMHO, personify the cross section of
Amercian music styles better than the Blasters did. New releases getting 1st
time Barndance spins this evening were at a minimum, but there were a few
including the new one from Kelly Kessler, a collection from Arhoolie focusing on
the stirring sounds of the late Reverend Pearly Brown, and a 7-inch reissue from
the Norton folks of Johnny Burnette & the Rock 'n' Roll Trio. Buttshaker of the
night????? "Train of Misery" from High Noon. Now onto the goods.....
