The Boudin Barndance - 07/24/2003

Live music was again the order of business on the Boudin Barndance tonight as we
celebrated the World Voices, World Vision program happening at the University of
Rhode Island all week. Welcomed Melvin Wade from URI's Mulitcultural Center who
put the extravaganza together along with one of the resident performers,
Providence-based multi-instrumentalist Martin Grosswendt.
Previewed the new release from Austin country supergroup Heybale called as well
as one of two new 180g vinyl releases from Sundazed Music of live Johnny Cash &
Tennessee Two performances at Town Hall Party from the late 1950s. Other
releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included Danny
Barnes, Hodges Brothers, Lilly Brothers, a Mickey Gilley two-fer reissue, Marty
Stuart, Charlie Robison, and a compilation called Old Time Mountain Blues from
County Records. Buttshaker of the night???? How 'bout the Hodges Brothers with
a hunk of hillbilly bop on "Everybody's Rockin". And now onto the goods.....
