The Boudin Barndance - 9/19/2002
This evening's Boudin Barndance was one of those shows where
I could've used
another hour to get in everything I had planned. What with it
being the
anniversary of Gram Parsons' death back in '73, it seemed only
fitting to devote
a chunk of the show to his music, hence the last hour a celebration
of GP. (For
the 1st 12 years of this program, a GP special was an annual event,
however, it
sort of fell by the wayside in recent years).
Previewed music from Fred Eaglesmith and gave away tix to his
show which happens
Friday evening at the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston.
A flood
of new things rolled in this week as well with the much anticipated
release from
Laura Cantrell called "When the Roses Are In Bloom"
leading the way. Featured a
few cuts from that. Some of the other new releases making their
Barndance
debuts on this evening's program included albums from Mary Lee's
Corvette (a
track-for-track remake of Blood on the Tracks), Buddy Miller,
Rex Hobart & the
Misery Boys, Lonesome Brothers, Delbert McClinton, and the Lee
Hazelwood tribute
called Total Lee. Buttshaker of the night????? There really
wasn't any. Now
