The Boudin Barndance - 9/26/2002

First off, for any of you web listeners out there, sorry to report that like
many other college and community stations, we will cease webcasting this coming
Monday. Hopefully it will only be a temporary thing. Onto tonight's show.

We remembered Don Kalmbach tonight, proprietor with his wife of Ginny's Little
Longhorn Saloon in Austin, Texas, with a set of Ginny's-inspired songs from Dale
Watson (and one from Karen Poston). Don passed away unexpectedly this past
Saturday at the age of 68. My wife and I have been to Ginny's many times over
the years on our many trips to Austin and must admit that despite being a
"Yankee", I've never felt more at home in a honky tonk than at there comfy hole
in the wall (and I've seen some great music there over the years as well from
Dale to Jim Stringer to Justin Trevino). Don & Ginny had a lot to do with that.
His death hit home pretty hard here some 2000 miles away. Condolences to Ginny
and her daughter from the Boudin Barndance.

The new releases continue to roll in. First-time Barndance spins went out to
releases from Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez, Steve Earle, Slobberbone, Jay
Farrar, and the Brooklyn Cowboys. Also did an early preview of show coming up
Friday, October 4 at the Narrows Ceneter for the Arts in Fall River, MA
featuring Jon Langford and Rico Bell. It will actually be an art show featuring
works from the two followed by a music performance. Buttshaker of the
night????? Let's give it to High Noon with "Railroad Crossing." Now onto the
