The Boudin Barndance - 10/09/2003

With Red Sox fever spreading like plague in these parts (and post-game riots
turning the URI campus into more of a war zone than the most radical moments of
the late '60s and early '70s), phones were notceably quiet this evening. The
only exception being when we gave away a free pair of tix to Friday's Lucinda
Williams/Jayhawks show at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence (and which was
an excellent performance by both parties, though Lucinda could've rocked a bit
more). Hence a preview of the show occupying one entire set this evening.
Other than that, a mix-em-up evening with birthday salutes going out to Dale
Watson, the late Dottie West, and Jon Langford. Not a whole lot for
first-timers making the Barndance hit parade, but we did break out the tribute
compilation from dren Records called Ain't No Grave, the Dolly Parton tribute
from Sugar Hill called Just Because I'm a Woman, and the latest from Uncle
Lightnin'. Buttshaker of the night???? Hank Garland & His Sugarfooters with " Doll Dance".
