Colored Mind Drops: Favorites of 2007

Here’s my favorite releases of the year as of 1/20/08, including reissues I haven’t featured on the show before as well as mixes and compilations:

  1. Electric Wizard, Witchcult Today (Rise Above)
  2. Harmonia, Live 1974 (Water)
  3. Turbonegro, Apocalypse Dudes (Cooking Vinyl/Scandinavian Leather)
  4. Bobb Trimble, Harvest of Dreams (Secretly Canadian)
  5. Up-Tight, Early Years (Archive)
  6. East of Underground, East of Underground (Human Ear Music)
  7. Turbonegro, Ass Cobra (Cooking Vinyl/Scandinavian Leather)
  8. Tivol, Early Teeth (Holy Mountain)
  9. Expo ’70, Animism (Kill Shaman)
  10. Darkspace, Darkspace 1 (Avant Garde)
  11. Les Rallizes Dénudés, Are You Rallizesed? (Ignuitas)
  12. Dälek, Abandoned Language (Ipecac)
  13. Proibidão C.V (Sublime Frequencies)
  14. Tarentel, Ghetto Beats on the Surface of the Sun (Temporary Residence)
  15. Seefeel, Quique (re-issue with bonus CD, Too Pure)
  16. Les Rallizes Dénudés, Yodo-Go-A-Go-Go (10th Avenue Freeze-Out)
  17. The Peter Brötzmann Octet, The Complete Machine Gun Sessions (Atavistic)
  18. Boris with Michio Kurihara, Rainbow (Drag City)
  19. Debris’, Static Disposal (Anopheles)
  20. Wooden Shjips, Wooden Shjips (with limited edition bonus CD, Holy Mountain)

Coolest name for a hard-to-find release that I almost overspent for on e-Bay before I came to my senses: Les Rallizes Dénudés, Blind Baby Has its Mother’s Eyes (bootleg).

Best desert: the Fruit Fiesta at the Cedars Steak House at Foxwoods. Don’t let the name fool you, this thing is unbelievably decadent. I almost had to be wheeled out of the joint but it was worth it.

Huge thanks to both my regular listeners and to any lonely truckers or escaped convicts that I’ve managed to entertain, annoy, disorient, or send careening over a highway embankment.
