The Boudin Barndance radio show returned tonight after a week off and it was a full plate. We previewed upcoming shows in the area by Deer Tick in Providence (Nov. 24) & Pawtucket (Nov. 25-26) and The Texas Gentlemen @ the Narrows Center for the Arts this coming Monday. Also gave away some tix for the latter. We saluted all kinds of birthdays and remembered Doug Sahm what with the anniversary of his passing this Saturday. New releases making the Barndance hit parade for the initial time included albums from Wilco (reissue), Brother Roy, Ren, This is Steve, Deer Tick, local heroes The Low Cards who play a CD release party at Fort Foreclosure in Warren on Nov. 25, and a new Kris Kristofferson tribute. Buttshaker of the week???? How about Kay Adams with “Little Pink Mack”?!. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….

Back in the Boudin Barndance saddle this evening after a couple of weeks of moving between upstate New York, Ohio, Oregon, and upstate New York again. We welcomed Chuck Wentworth onto the program to talk about the 20th annual
Rhythm & Roots Festival which he produces and which happens Labor Day Weekend at Ninigret Park in Charlestown, RI. (www.rhythmandroots.com). Also remembered two fallen heroes from the country and rock & roll worlds in Glen Campbell and Sonny Burgess. Sonny was actually a guest on the Barndance in the late 1990s and played the pre-house concert version of our Roots Hoot series at a club in Providence (with big thanks to Jack Smith!). The first Boudin Barndance of June finally brought the sun out and cleared the skies. We mixed it up a bunch playing some extra long sets. Ticket giveaways again to Ha Ha Tonka at Firehouse 13 in Providence on June 9 and the Green River Festival (www.greenriverfestival.com) happening July 14-16 in Greenfield, MA. A bunch of new releases making their Barndance debut tonight including albums from The Secret Sisters, The Mastersons, Jade Jackson, North Mississippi All-Stars, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, and Tom Heyman.
