Back in the Boudin Barndance saddle this evening after a couple of weeks of moving between upstate New York, Ohio, Oregon, and upstate New York again. We welcomed Chuck Wentworth onto the program to talk about the 20th annual
Rhythm & Roots Festival which he produces and which happens Labor Day Weekend at Ninigret Park in Charlestown, RI. (www.rhythmandroots.com). Also remembered two fallen heroes from the country and rock & roll worlds in Glen Campbell and Sonny Burgess. Sonny was actually a guest on the Barndance in the late 1990s and played the pre-house concert version of our Roots Hoot series at a club in Providence (with big thanks to Jack Smith!). New and recent releases making their Barndance debut tonight included albums from Ray Wylie Hubbard, Mike Youngers, Whiskey Shivers, Suzanne Santo, The Parson Red Heads, and reissues from Arthur Alexander & Sam Frazier, Jr.. Buttshaker of the week???? Sonny Burgess (R.I.P.) with the twin spin of “We Wanna Boogie” and “Red_Headed Woman.” Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
