Tonight’s Boudin Barndance was a tough one as I remembered former fellow RIU DJ and station Folk & Roots director and the fellow who gave me a chance on the air almost 37 years ago and became a great friend in the process, Chuck Wentworth. Chuck passed away last Thursday and it is almost impossible to describe in brief fashion what he meant to the music scene here in Rhode island and New England and beyond. His influence was vast and he will be sorely missed. As it is, we devoted tonight’s program to him and I presented a personal remembrance during the last 75 minutes telling stories and playing a whole bunch of stuff he loved and turned me onto. Prior to that, we offered up our usual mix of mostly new stuff during the first hour followed by our weekly C&W segment with a salute to Willie Nelson as part of that. New albums and singles making their Barndance debut this evening came from Connie Smith, Noelle & The Deserters, Allison Brown & Steve Martin, Jesse Dayton, and Keegan McInroe. Buttshaker of the week???? In honor of Chuck, the late Boozoo Chavis with “Paper in My Shoe.” Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
