A Word about Tonight’s Show:  Tonight we listen to a compilation of the the first 19 entries in the It’s A Movie! Song of the Week segment, plus a bonus track.

I probably hit on the idea for this opening segment of Picture This sometime last fall, and it took just about six moths to compile enough tunes to create an entire show, mostly because some of themes for programs between then and now precluded doing the segment at all.
I expect the segment will continue since  I’ve gotten lots of suggestions from listeners who picked up on the idea that they’ve heard tunes in their lives that instantly suggest movies; it’s the powerful combination of strong visual imagery and an evocative narrative line set against the backdrop of great music, I think, that turns us into temporary filmmakers. So, enjoy!
Oh, and join me next week when Picture This heads back to the darkened movie house for a double feature, the scores from both Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane and Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times.  the first 19 entries into the It’s A Movie! Song of the Week segment and spin them into a show.
