After a week off, we were back in the groove for yet another busy evening on The Boudin Barndance radio show. Two new conceptual albums in the Barndance spotlight this evening: the Terry & Jo Harvey Allen family project Blood Sucking Maniacs and the “soundtrack” to Congressman Davy: A Musical featuring songs written by Dean Schlabowske (of Waco Brothers) and Richard Byrne and featuring a host of Chicago “alt country” luminaries on vocals. We also remembered Bruce Tull, co-founding member of the Scud Mountain Boys, who passed in late June finishing with a set of Scud tunes in remembrance. On a personal note, we were lucky to host the Scuds for a House concert in 2013 at which time I got to meet Bruce. Such a nice guy and I loved his curiosity as he roamed our home checking out all our artwork. He also was a constant “Likes” on the Facebook front on my Barndance posts and others over the years. Prior to all that, it was mostly new releases the first hour followed by the weekly C&W segment. New albums and singles making the Barndance hit parade this evening came from Low Cut Connie, Alex Amen, This Is Lorelei, Dinosaur Jr., Waylon Jennings, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Gary Stewart, Swamp Dogg, Margo Price, and Wynonna.
