A Boudin Barndance radio show did happen tonight and it was big fun. First off, we apologize to those over-the-air listeners for the lack of a broadcast signal. Appears Hermine did something to something on Monday. Hopefully rectified by next week. Thank goodness for the webcast as listener activity was on high tonight. It was mostly a night of playin’ the field, however, we did do a rare blast from the past album feature. Inspired by seeing Dave Alvin last weekend, reading the recent John Doe book chronicling the L.A. punk scene circa late ‘70s and early ‘80, and seeing Mr. Doe earlier this summer, we dug out the LP soundtrack to the film Border Radio and closed out the show by playing Side A. It has held up okay, IMHO. Albums making their Barndance debut tonight included new ones from Bobby Rush, Mark Chesnutt, Whiskey Myers, Clark Patterson, Dead Horses, Dex Romweber, and Angel Olsen. Buttshaker of the week???? A little Michigan rockabilly with “Runnin’ from the Law” from Gene Nitz. Now let’s all grab a cold one, or two, and get to the goods….
