The Boudin Barndance for 2014 is winding down (and seeing next Thursday is Xmas, there’s a damn good chance this will be the last one of the year). We gave it to the listeners low and hard tonight with an all-over-the-map batch of tunes which ranged from a touch of shredding courtesy of William Tyler on a cover of “Tennessee Blues” to the big organ swells of Jimmy McGriff on a rendition of “White Christmas”. Frankly speaking, it was a darn fun night of spinning. No features this evening, but we did salute some C&W types on their birthdays (as we always do) and even managed to break out a couple of 2014 releases for the first time. They came from Willie Nile and Sallie Ford. Not 100% sure, but it is looking like our January 1 show may be the “Best of the Barndance 2014”. Stayed tuned. Buttshaker of the week???? In the holiday spirit once again, Sugar “Chile” Robinson with “Christmas Boogie”. Thank you Mr. Zingg for the turn on. Now let’s all grab a cold one, or two, and get to the goods….
