Back to the business of The Boudin Barndance this week after our Doug Sahm extravaganza last week. A mix-em’ up night on the program. Did feature some music from a some great acts in the area this weekend and all on Saturday night: Billy Joe Shaver at the Channing Memorial Church in Newport, RI; Joe Fletcher & the Wrong Reasons at the Met Café in Pawtucket; and Lydia Loveless playing a house show hosted by yours truly right here in Peace Dale. Shined the spotlight on a new collection of Starday singles from Red Sovine and released on Ace Records. New releases making their Barndance hit parade debut tonight were few and included the new one from Turbo Fruits and new compilations on Ace from the aforementioned Mr. Sovine and another from Dan Penn. Buttshaker of the week???? A hipshakin’ dose of Northern soul courtesy of Danny White with “Miss Fine Miss Fine”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
