A full plate on The Boudin Barndance this evening. We previewed a couple of live happenings in Providence/Pawtucket and one in Fall River all happening this weekend: Jackie Greene at The Met Café in Pawtucket on Sunday night, a benefit for asthma awareness at Fete Lounge in Providence also on Sunday night, and the Spindle City Americana Fest celebrating the music of Gram Parsons happening at the Narrows in Fall River on Saturday featuring 6 different bands and all beginning at 4 pm. The highlight this evening? Why the Bob Kendall Band, all 6 of them (!), who joined us live in the studio during the last hour. They will be playing at the Spindle City fest on Saturday. They sounded terrific! With all that action, not much time for new stuff tonight. Only a single recording made its Barndance debut and that was the latest from Catherine Irwin (of Freakwater fame). Buttshaker of the week???? The big twang of The Byrds featuring the late Clarence White bending those strings with “Nashville West.” Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
