Warm weather + hot Boudin Barndance = early start to the weekend. That’s the way it worked tonight on the program. Features were many: previews of the Brown Bird/Joe Fletcher/D. Charles Speer show at The Met Café in Pawtucket on Saturday night and the Bobby Bare Jr. house party (www.bobbybarejr.com/house-parties) hosted by yours truly in Peace Dale that same evening, a birthday remembrance of the late Charlie Rich, and a Barndance spotlight on the Oxford American Southern Music CD accompanying the annual music issue (www.oxfordamercian.org). New releases making their Barndance debut this evening included recordings from The Far West and the aforementioned Oxford sampler. Buttshaker of the week???? Bo Diddley with “Heart-o-Matic Love”.
