Back in the saddle after another very fulfilling SXSW film & music. Loved the warmth more than anything. Best things seen: Charles Bradley hands-down tops & Eleventh Dream Day at Yard Dog a close 2nd. As for tonight’s Boudin Barndance, it was part SXSW redux and other part memorial service. The latter featured salutes to Pinetop Perkins, Ferlin Husky, and most especially Ralph Mooney. New releases landing on the Barndance hit parade for the 1st time included albums from Lucinda Williams, Jason Isbell & 400 Unit, The Black Lilliies, Robin Bacior, Those Darlins, and Maggie Bjorkland. Buttshaker of the week???? A slow shaker groover from the late R.L. Burnside with “Got Messed Up”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods…
