For whatever reason, a very quiet URI campus to arrive to this evening. The mission of The Boudin Barndance? To stir things up. We celebrated the birthday of Johnny Cash by featuring a bunch of tracks from the new Bootleg Vol. 2 collection. We placed the new Exene Cervenka album coming out on Bloodshot Records in the spotlight by featuring a few tracks. Also in the spotlight was Brooklyn-based performer Rebecca Pronsky who has Providence roots (Brown alum) and who plays a house concert hosted by yours truly on Saturday night. Lots of albums making their debut this evening including new ones from Middle Brother (featuring local hero John McCauley of Deer Tick fame who play Lupo’s next Friday), Bonnie Whitmore, Drive-By Truckers, Lynn Miles, Buddy Miller, the aforementioned Exene, Andy Friedman, The Baseball Project, and Marisa Anderson from her excellent LP on Mississippi Records. Buttshaker of the week???? We go C&W with “Itchin’ For My Baby” from late birthday boy Porter Wagoner. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods…
