A snowstorm a week is the M.O. in these parts the last month with another coming tomorrow, hence The Boudin Barndance providing the perfect soundtrack for all to head to the store to stock up on milk & bread as is customary in these parts. After a few weeks heavy on the look back at 2010, we finally got into the swing of 2011 this evening breaking out a slew of new stuff (with some belated 2010 releases in the mix). Among the new or recent releases receiving their 1st Barndance spin this evening included new ones from Abigail Washburn, Dala, Lori McKenna, Redbird, Lydia Loveless, Great Recession Orchestra, Hot Club of Cowtown, Gregg Allman, North Mississippi All-Stars, Gurf Morlix, Ponderosa and Lonnie Walker. In the spotlight this evening was the reissue of The Jayhawks’ 1992 release Hollywood Town Hall, one of two Jayhawks albums getting the reissue treatment this week. We’ll spotlight reissue #2, Tomorrow the Green Grass, on next week’s Barndance. Buttshaker of the week????
