Transmitter problems as a result of Wednesday’s snow in these parts had us in webcasting mode only up until 10 minutes left in the program when we popped back on the air. Must’ve been that Syl Johnson number! Anyway, the 1st half of the program was a wrap-up of 2010 releases we did not get to last week. Began the 2nd half of the program with a remembrance of country singer/songwriter Gary Claxton of Austin-based Heybale fame who took his life just a week ago. Incredibly sad. From there it was onto a preview of live shows in the area including Bill Kirchen at Common Fence on Saturday night, Miss Tess & Bon Ton Parade at Narrow next Thursday, John & Ian of Deer Tick at The Met on Saturday, Joe Fletcher & Wrong Reasons at Local 201 on Sunday, The Throttles and Girl Haggard at The 201 on Saturday, and The ‘Mericans playing a house concert hosted by yours truly on Saturday night. Lots of good stuff. Releases making their Barndance debut tonight included the new from the aforementioned band The Throttles. Buttshaker of the week???? Some hard country with Whitey Morgan & the 78s cover of “Bad News.” Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods…
