A dreary night here in Southern New England, so the mission of The Boudin Barndance to spread enough cheer to wipe out the drearies. And a little Jimmy Willis never hurts. Kicked it off with a few birthday salutes to a couple of late heroes, Gram Parsons & Doug Sahm. (By the way, we’ll be doing our annual Thanksgiving evening Doug Sahm celebration on what else but Thanksgiving evening, Nov. 25.) From there, lots of odds and ends this evening along with previewing a bunch of upcoming shows in the area including Malcolm Holcombe at the Common Fence Point Community Hall in Portsmouth on Saturday night (www.commonfencemusic.org), Chuck Prophet (with Stephanie Finch opening) at the Narrows Center for the Arts on Saturday (www.ncfta.org), and Robert Earl Keen at The Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly on the 13th (www.theknickerbockercafe.com). New releases making their Barndance debut this evening included recordings from Southern Culture On the Skids, Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen, Horse Feathers, and local band Girl Haggard who play The Met Cafe in Pawtucket on Wednesday. Buttshaker of the week???? Bobo Jenkins takes the Gilbertville kielbasa with “Nothing But Love”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
