What with rain the last 10 of 11 days, skies finally broke late today. It put us on The Boudin Barndance staff in a cheery mood. Also putting us in a cheery mood was the new slab of hardcore honky tonk from new Bloodshot artist Whitey Morgan & the 78s. RIYL Dale Watson is the quick and dirty. Hailing from Flint, it inspired (& was the centerpiece) of a couple of sets of music the last hour of the program focusing on Detroit C&W and hillbilly sounds. Previewed the Nora Jane Struthers show happening at the Common Fence Community Hall on Saturday night. Visit www.commonfencemusic.org. New albums making their Barndance debut this evening included recordings from Ben Weaver, Raul Malo, Jay Sherman Godfrey, and the aforementioned Whitey Morgan. Buttshaker of the week???? Al Garcia & the Rhythm Kings with a real mid-60s shaker called “The Shack”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
