We opened this evening’s Boudin Barndance by dedicating the first three sets
to a number of the great, early releases from HighTone Records which closed
it doors last Friday. I’d have to rank them as arguably the premier
independent roots music label from the late 1980s and the whole of the
1990s. Boy they introduced me (and my listeners) to some great artists. A
sad sign of the times, if you ask me. Only a few releases making their
Barndance debuts tonight including The Tough & Lovely (very cool stuff),
King Louie One Man Band, and one from the upcoming Willie Nelson 4-CD set.
Buttshaker of the night???? The Fleshtones who play Jake’s in Providence on
Saturday night with “Shiney Heinie”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get
to the goods….
