Recent reviews include Jesse Dayton & Brennen Leigh, The SteelDrivers, Best
of 2007, Heavy Trash, Levon Helm, Wussy, and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings.
New & recent releases dominated the Boudin Barndance proceedings this
evening. In the spotlight were the latest slabs of wax from Brooklyn-based
Norton Records (www.nortonrecords.com), 45s and LPs galore, which made for
an all-vinyl final hour of lobe-busting romp & stomp. New stuff filled the
first couple of hours, as well, with first-time spins going out to releases
from The
SteelDrivers, Tom T. & Dixie Hall, Amanda Shaw, Jon Itkin, Buzz Cason,
Drive-By Truckers, Mars Arizona, Ray Bonneville, Malcolm Holcombe, Larry
Lange & the Lonely Nights, and two recordings from Memphis-based label Goner
Records (www.goner-records.com) from Harlan T. Bobo and Ross Johnson each of
which hit the Barndance “G” spot on the first pass. Buttshaker of the
night???? It’s a no-brainer, turban-wearin’ circa-early ’60s party outfit
The Egyptians with “The Party Stomp”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get
to the goods….
