Cold as a witches’ you know what in these parts over the last week or so, hence a little Boudin Barndance to hopefully warm many a Southeastern New England abode on this Thursday evening. Featured music from the brand new Merle Haggard retrospective from the folks at Time-Life. If you’re lacking some Merle in your collection, it’s a good one-stop-shop way to fill that void. Began working in some Xmas tunes this evening with the new Yep Roc sampler making its Barndance debut. Other releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included a couple of fine slabs from the Hacktone Records folks focusing on shoulda-been-a-soul-giant Sterling Harrison and the equally great Arthur Alexander. Buttshaker of the night????? How ‘bout some sweet soul sway ‘n’ shake with “Sally Sue Brown” from the late Arthur Alexander. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods…
