A divided evening on the Boudin Barndance tonight. First and foremost, we paid tribute to Porter Wagoner dedicating nearly the entire last hour to his music. A Barndance favorite through all of our 20+ years, it had me pining for those Nashville Network Grand Ol’ Opry Saturday nights with PW as the host real bad (HI!). Nobody fills his shoes.
We previewed music from Wanda Jackson who appears in this area on Sunday night (November 4) at The Towers in Narragansett (www.thetowersri.com). Also on the bill are The Lustre Kings and The Stumbleweeds. Should be a stellar night of rockabilly and honkabilly. Not much for new releases debuting tonight, but there were a few including new stuff from the Mezcal Brothers, Sam Baker, and Dave Sheehan. Buttshaker of the night????? Why ol’ Porter kicking up some West Plains dust with “Company’s Comin'”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods…
