Spring sprung in these parts, finally, just last weekend. We welcomed it in a fine way on the Boudin Barndance tonight with an appearance by the Providence-based band The ‘mericans who entertained us with a mix of tracks from their current release as well as their upcoming album due early this summer. The play the Ocean Mist in Matunuck tomorrow (Friday) night and AS220 in Providence on May 12. Check ’em out at www.myspace.com/themericans. Also featured music from a trio of acts who hit these parts this weekend, that being the Holmes Brothers who are at the Narrows Center For the Arts (www.ncfta.org) in Fall River, Ma tomorrow night, Terri Hendrix who appears at the Commence Fence Point Community Hall in Portsmouth, RI on Saturday night, and Jon Dee Graham who along with his Fighting Cocks band plays Jake’s Bar & Grill in Providence on Saturday night. Releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included new stuff from Johnny Bush, the duo of Bush & Justin Trevino, Dale Watson, Fobbie Fulks, Eddie Angel, Glossary (a bit belated), North Twin, and Chris Whitley & Jeff Lang. Buttshaker of the night????? Who can resist giving the honors to the Detroit Cobras with “Leave My Kitten Alone”. Now let’s have a cold one and get to the goods…..
