After last week’s door fiasco that prevented the Boudin Barndance from airing and hence, killed what was to be our 6th annual Doug Sahm special, popular demand resulted in it all going down this week. First off, thanks all for the calls. I’m still amazed at the number of people who call in wondering who is this Doug Sahm. More importantly, they never fail to ask where they can get his music and what I recommend. For the first time since starting this annual salute just after his death in 1999, we devoted the entire three hours to the man and his music (and still I didn’t feel it was enough time). The only bummer of the evening other than losing a CD player early on was the inability of a live show from 1973 in Boston at Paul’s Mall that a pal had burnt onto CD for me to work in any of the players in the studio. New ones are on the way, so perhaps next year. Sahm highlights in 2005 were the domestic reissue of 1974’s Groover’s Paradise as well as the 5-CD collection from Hip-O Select covering the Mercury years. Buttshaker of the night????? “You Got Me Hurtin'”. Now onto the goods…..
