A busy night on the Barndance with lots of new releases as well as previewing a couple of upcoming shows in the area. Lots of birthday remembrances as well including Harlan Howard, Patsy Cline, Jimmie Rodgers and Buddy Holly. Upcoming shows in the Barndance spotlight included The Fleshtones who appear at the Area Venue in Newport tomorrow night and David Olney who appears at a house concert at the home of yours truly on Saturday the 17th. As for new releases, the big spotlight was on the terrific new album from Marty Stuart & the Superlatives called “Soul’s Chapel”. Other releases making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included reissues from Hank Cochran, Jeannie C. Riley, and a collection that pairs recordings from Carl & Pearl Butler and Johnny & Jonie Mosby. On the new album front, recordings from Dean Miller, The Woodys, Firewood Revival, Joe Kile, Wayne Scott, Cary Swinney and Amy Rigby all made their debut on tonight’s program. Buttshaker of the night???? Jimmy Donley takes the prize with “Honey Stop Twistin'”. Now onto the goods…..
