The best thing about the annual SXSW music fest in Austin is discovering something new. At the 2007 edition, The Tripwires were this scribe’s revelation. Possessing a tight and bright Merseybeat-meets-Byrds-meets-Velvet Crush sound bursting with hooks, harmonies and the occasional side of twang, the live show had me anxious for the recorded work. Glad to say that as of late last Fall the Seattle-based four-piece finally has wax in the racks with Makes You Look Around. Put simply, it was worth the wait. Power pop fans discover and rejoice!
