A full plate on The Boudin Barndance this evening. Most prominently, we remembered co-founder of Norton Records and Kicks magazine, Billy Miller, who passed away Sunday at his home in Brooklyn. Put simply, Norton Records has had a major impact on me in oh so many positive ways both musically and spirit-wise and I thank Billy and his partner-in-crime Miriam Linna for that. Norton records also had a major impact on this radio program inspiring it to spread its rock & roll and greasy R&B wings. We paid tribute to Billy by by closing with a couple of sets featuring he and Miriam’s band The A-Bones along with a whole load of Norton nuggets. Also on the agenda tonight were ticket giveaways/show previews for the Mike + Ruthy Band at Music at Lilypads in Peace Dale on Sunday night and Slim Cessna & O’ Death at The Met Café on Nov. 29. Also put the spotlight on the new Adam Carroll tribute release called Highway Prayer. New releases continue to be scant at this time of year, but we did break out a few recent news ones including Lyal Strickland, the aforementioned Adam Carroll tribute, local band The Shameless Idols, and the new Emmylou Harris celebration. Buttshaker of the week???? The A-Bones with “Daddy Needs a Cold Beer.” Now let’s all grab a cold one, or two, and get to the goods….
