We began tonight’s Boudin Barndance with a set of music from The Sadies in tribute to Dallas Good from the band who passed away suddenly last Thursday. In my almost 35 years of doing this program, it was the most difficult set I’ve ever programmed through. We’ve had The Sadies play our annual Swamp Stomp fest three times since 2010 (and they were presently scheduled to play a fourth time this coming June). In my producer role, over the course of the three they have played I forged a friendship with the band like no other artists who have played the event. To say I was in awe of them as artists/performers is putting it lightly. Once you’ve seen The Sadies, there was no going back. Condolences to his wife, family, bandmates, and management team. Our other focus this evening was the sometimes annual Boudin Barndance Mid-Winter Surf & Roll extravaganza as we dedicated the final hour of the show to all things surf music.Here on eve of another blast of snow and ice in these parts, hopefully it got you thinking about warmer days ahead. New music making the Barndance hit parade for the first time included albums from Geoffrey Miller, the late Daryl Singletary, Eli Paperboy Reed, Son House, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, and Sarah Shook & The Disarmers. Buttshaker of the week???? Hardrock Gunter & The Popcorn Poppers with “Jukebox Shuffle.” Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
