First off, I once again want to thank all who contributed to the WRIU Radiothon fundraiser during the Boudin Barndance last week. This week it was back to business of playing music and hopefully enlightening listeners to some of the great stuff out there. Tonight was a night of playing the field with new and old and everything in between. New music making its Barndance debut tonight included tunes from Gary Louris of The Jayhawks, The Wallflowers, Rhiannon Giddens, M. Ross Perkins, Steve Cropper, and local Rhode Island country lady Charlie Marie whose national debut is out in May. Buttshaker of the week???? America’s most colorful hillbilly band The Maddox Brothers & Rose with “Oakie Boogie.” Now let’s all grab a cold one, or three, and get to the goods….
