It’s Newport Folk Festival weekend in these parts and we kicked off the show with two sets featuring artists scheduled to perform this weekend. From there, it was off to our usual Barndance mix. We closed with an album showcase, the latest in Ace Records’ terrific “By the Bayou” series, Volume 21 which is of the R&B flavor and is subtitled “Bop Cat Stomp.” It’s real, real, good. Oh yeah, a couple of tunes in remembrance of the great and legendary Dave Bartholomew who we lost just about a month ago. New releases making their Barndance debut tonight included albums from Beth Bombara, The Hawthornes, The W Lovers, and Delbert McClinton. Buttshaker of the week???? It’s an easy one, Cookie & the Cupcakes with “Crazy Rock.” Now let’s all grab a cold one, or two, and get to the goods….
