After two weeks of deviating from the norm, tonight was back to the business of our standard format Boudin Barndance. First and foremost, we closed the show with a lengthy set of music from The Detroit Cobras in remembrance of founding member and lead singer Rachel Nagy who passed away late last week. A cover band of a different ilk, boy did they introduce me to stuff. We shined the Barndance spotlight on the new two-volume collection of sacred soul music from the Bible & Tire Record Co. called Sacred Soul: The D-Vine Spirituals Story. New releases filled the first hour followed by our weekly C&W set and then a odds & ends set. New albums and singles making the Barndance hit parade for the first time tonight included albums from Jake Xerxes Fussell, Aoife ODonovan, Eliza Gilkyson, Jamestown Revival, Maya DeVitry, Johnny Dowd, The Youngers and singles from Anais Mitchell, Freakons, Good Looks, Carson McHone, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, The Cactus Blossoms, and Sarah Borges.
