Fourth of July on The Boudin Barndance radio show tonight and boy was the building quiet. In keeping with past 4th of July Barndances, we featured a whole lot of California country focusing on two collections, The Bakersfield Sound box set from Bear Family and the three volumes of A Town South of Bakersfield. It was in addition to our normal first half of the show mix of mostly new music the first hour followed by the weekly C&W set. We had a little Solid Sound fallout in the next to last set and then concluded the show with a couple in memory of Chuck Wentworth who would have celebrated his 73rd birthday. A celebration of life for Chuck happens this Sunday at 1 pm at Ninigret Park in Charlestown. New albums and singles making their Barndance debut this evening came from Bonny Light Horseman, The Deslondes, X, Marvis Staples, Harlem Gospel Travelers, Rockin’ Dopsie & The Zydeco Twisters, JD McPherson, Joe Ely, Johnny Cash, and Liv Greene. Buttshaker of the week???? Eddy Bond with “Double Duty Lovin’.” Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
