Nov. 24 – Annual Celebration of Doug Sahm Thanksgiving Special
Our first Boudin Barndance of November was the usual busy one. New releases dominated our first hour before moving into our weekly C&W segment. We saluted Jerry Lee Lewis on last week’s show for his entry into the Country Music Hall of Fame. This week, we eulogized him what with his passing last Friday. We remembered two Barndance heroes celebrating birthdays this week, the late Gram Parsons and Doug Sahm. Also previewed a few artists coming into the area, Dori Freeman at the Jamestown Arts Center on Saturday night, Sarah Shook at Askew in Providence tomorrow night, and Ramblin’ Deano playing a sold out house show hosted by yours truly on Sunday here in Peace Dale. New albums making their Barndance debut tonight came from Hermanos Gutierrez, Emily Nenni, Jake Blount, and the new Billy Joe Shaver tribute album. Buttshaker of the week???? The Killer will “Hillbilly Music.” Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
