We continued a long-standing Boudin Barndance radio show Thanksgiving tradition this evening by giving thanks to the music of Doug Sahm in all its various incarnations. We devoted 7-9 pm segment to all things Doug from early 45s to Sir Douglas Quintet material to various solo and band lead stuff. Oh yeah, a set of covers by other artists, too! The first set was a matter of playing some odds & ends stuff that strike a nerve, including Dylan’s “Murder Most Foul” which has become the Alice’s Restaurant for The Boudin Barndance. The 2nd set featured tracks from the new live album of Gram Parsons & The Fallen Angels recorded at the Bijou Café in Philadelphia in March of 1973 and which will be available as a Black Friday Record Store Day special release. Buttshaker of the week???? It is obviously the Sir Douglas Quintet with the quintessential “She’s About a Mover.” Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
