Our first Boudin Barndance of December in these pandemic times was a busy one highlighted by a giveaway courtesy of Rhino Records of the John Prine collection “Crooked Piece of Time” which covers the entirety of his output for Atlantic and Asylum Records between 1971 and 1980. We featured a bunch of music from it. We began the show on a Kentucky note with the recent album from S.G. Goodman leading things off. Mostly new releases the first couple of sets before our weekly C&W installment. We closed the show out with a set of old blues stuff that had me thinking I need to do that more often. New and recent releases making their Barndance debut tonight included albums from S.G. Goodman, Bonnie Prince Billy & Mat Sweeney (single), Tanya Tucker, Go to Blazes (reissue), The No Ones, Jackson Scribner (single), and the John Prine collection. Buttshaker of the week???? A very rare tie between Juke Boy Bonner with “Houston, The Action Time” and Hop Wilson giving us “dance to It.” Now let’s all grab a cold one, or three, and get to the goods….
