A potpourri of an evening on The Boudin Barndance to end 2024. We remembered a couple of artists who departed us in the last week in Slim Dunlap (those two 1990s solo albums on Medium Cool are treasured to this day) and soul/R&B singer Sugar Pie DeSanto. We put the album spotlight on the recent Lou Reed Archive Series release from Light in the Attic called Why Don’t You Smile Now: Lou Reed at Pickwick Records. We also played a set of music in honor of the legendary music and visual artist (and Barndance hero!) Terry Allen whose biography from this past year called Truckload of Art was my favorite read of the year and is highly recommended. A few first-time plays on the Barndance tonight including a seasonal track from local heroes The Mericans, Father John Misty, and Horsebath. Buttshaker of the week???? The Primitives (w/ Lou Reed) with “The Ostrich.” HAPPY NEW YEAR and now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
