Tonight marked 35 years of The Boudin Barndance in the Thursday night 6-9 pm slot at 90.3 WRIU-FM. Show #1 was on May 14, 1987 and boy has a lot of life been lived since then, along with almost 1,700 Barndance shows since that first one. That show featured a focus on the music of Gram Parsons, so what better way to begin this evening’s program than with a few from GP. Other than that, it was business as usual with a first hour dominated by new releases (other than the GP stuff), followed by our C&W segment. We showcased music from Sarah Shook and Low Cut Connie each of whom play in the area next Thursday night at Askew and The Narrows Center for the Arts, respectively. From there, we just mixed it up. New albums and singles making their Barndance debut tonight came from Terry Allen & the Panhandle Mystery Band (reissue), Brennen Leigh, Miranda Lambert (single), Aaron Raitiere, and Delbert McClinton. Buttshaker of the week???? “Careful Baby” by Groovey Joe Poovey. Now let’s all grab a cold one or three, and get to the goods….
