What with the sinuses running rampant (literally), this was one of those Boudin Barndance Thursday nights where “The show must go on” attitude was the only thing that got me through. That and plenty of friendly callers. In the spotlight was a preview of the three latest entries to Sundazed Records’ The Guitars That Won the West series, that being collections from Speedy West, Merle Travis, and the inimitable Phil Baugh! In addition to these, Sundazed has also released a compilation of 1964 Swan demos from Link Wray which also got sufficient airing on tonight’s program. New releases also found there way into the mix with first time spins, in addition to the Sundazed stuff, going to recordings from The Gourds, Amelia White, Michael Hill, Frog Holler, The Dixie Bee-Liners, Jon Rauhouse, and HighTone’s new Guitar Hotshots release. Oh yeah, previewed some music from New England singer/songwriter Lori McKenna who appears at the Stone Soup Coffeehouse in Pawtucket on Saturday night (www.soup.org). Buttshaker of the night????? It’s been a long while since we played ’em, but Three Blue Teardrops with “Long Hard Night”. Now onto the goods…..
