A busy night on the Boudin Barndance this evening. Featured a couple of sets of music from Bettye LaVette who headlines at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA tomorrow evening (www.ncfta.org). Also spotlighted The Supersuckers who are the Living Room on January 30 and Neko Case who is at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence on February 1. Opened the show with a couple from the late Johnny Russell in memory of his Jan. 23 birthdate. That set us off on a C&W streak the first few sets. New recordings making the Barndance for the first time included albums from Jason Ringenberg, The Wrights, Grace Basement, The Low Anthem, and The Whipsaws. Buttshaker of the night???? From 1965, Bettye LaVette with “Let Me Down Easy”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
