A tale of two shows on this evening’s Boudin Barndance where the first half was dedicated to mixing it up while including birthday salutes to late legends Johnny Cash & Faron Young and the 2nd half featured a guest appearance by Providence-based band The ‘mericans (www.myspace.com/themericans). It was their 3rd appearance on the show. They are gearing up for the releases of their 3rd album this Spring and play a live show this Sunday night at Local 121 (wwwl.local121.com) in downtown Providence. It was a mix of live stuff in the studio with material from both their previous two releases and the upcoming new one. Some recent releases making their Barndance debut this evening. Included were new ones from The Texas Sapphires, Johnny Cash, T-Model Ford, Brian Olive, the gospel compilation The Pitch/Gusman Story, and the Appalachian Blues compilation from Smithsonian/Folkways. Buttshaker of the week???? A bit of slow boogie with “Baby Let’s Play House” from Arthur Gunter. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods….
