A full plate on the Boudin Barndance this evening. First and foremeost, we played a lengthy set of music in remembrance of Austin-based guitarist Paul Skelton who passed away on Sunday after battling cancer. Easily one of my most favorite guitarists, I have some real fond memories of Paul gracing the stage at Jovita’s over the years as a member of the Cornell Hurd Band. May he R.I.P. Also on the agenda this evening, remembrances of Snooks Eaglin and honky tonker Buck Griffin each of whom passed within the last week. We sent out birthday salutes to Ralph Stanley and the late Faron Young and Johnny Cash. Featured music from Steve Wynn who plays a house concert hosted by yours truly on Saturday night. Lots of new releases receiving their inaugural Barndance spin this evening. They included new ones from Neko Case, Jeffrey Foucault, Sometymes Why, Randy Weeks, and Gurf Morlix. Buttshaker of the week???? Snooks Eaglin with a belated “Mardi Gras Mambo”. Now let’s all grab a cold one and get to the goods……
